It is the true story of a young ornithologist named Steve Kress who fell in love with puffins and went on a 50 year quest to bring them back to Maine’s shores. Stephen W. Kress is a world renowned ornithologist. He is the founder of Project Puffin and retired Vice President of Bird Conservation for the National Audubon Society. He is a Visiting Fellow of the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology. Coauthor Derrick Z. Jackson has documented the success of Project Puffin with close and personal puffin photos. As a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize as well as numerous other awards for both his writing and photography, Derrick has an impressive array of photographic experience.
