[prMac.com] Westfield, Indiana – Very Alien Productions today introduces Trigonomics 2.0 for iOS, their intelligent math app that serves as a handy trigonometry aid. The application makes it simple for users to perform calculations and learn more about triangles, waves, the unit circle, trigonometric identities, and more. It also includes a graphing feature, which allows users to plot up to three trigonometric functions at once for comparison, and provides a vivid and exciting display ideal for learning and retaining new concepts. Its ease of use and comprehensive coverage makes it the perfect tool for those both new and returning to trigonometry.
* Triangle Solver draws triangles from a minimum number of side lengths or angles
* Unit Circle offers all coordinates and angles, the most common angles accessible with a tap
* Wave Explorer allows for adjustment of amplitude, frequency, and phase
* Comprehensive list of trigonometric identities
* Plot up to three custom functions at once on the Graph
* View Graph detail more easily with magnifying capabilities
* Retina display compatible
* iPad upgrade provides more workspace and precision
The Triangle Solver allows the user to enter side lengths or angles in text fields. Once the user has filled the minimum number of fields required, the solver will create the triangle by first filling in the values in the remaining text fields and then drawing a labeled triangle in the blue area below. The triangle created can then be rotated easily by touch.
The app also provides the area and perimeter of the calculated triangle. Alternatively, the user can view templates of equilateral, isosceles, right, and scalene triangles without entering any values by dragging down in the middle of the screen or through a convenient popup window on the iPad. The user may then enter values as well to create a specified triangle. The intelligent app will let the user know if the values entered are incapable of forming a triangle. On the new iPad version of the application, users can simply double-tap on any angle or side of their triangle to edit it directly.
The iPad upgrade allows for users to rotate their triangles with a newfound exactness, due to the larger viewing screen. The information window disappears and the landscape feature rotates fully to create an even larger workspace, adding to an ideal environment for clear learning.
The Explorers tab provides both the Unit Circle and Wave Explorer portions of the app. The Unit Circle features a warm blue display of a unit circle on a grid with x and y axes. Once the user enters any angle, a red line depicting that angle appears. The user may also drag along the circle to display a standard angle. The coordinates of any angle are provided.
The Wave Explorer features a graph of a wave that is easily adjustable. The amplitude, frequency, and phase can be varied to see how the wave changes. These adjustments are made with an effortless drag of the finger across the screen, and they appear immediately on the graph above. An equation for the line created also appears.
An exhaustive list of over 50 trigonometric identities is available to the user. This list features Reciprocal, Pythagorean, Quotient identities, and many more, organized by group. Users can scroll through the list to locate any identity, which can then be viewed magnified with one touch.
The Graph feature of Trigonomics 2.0 allows the user to plot up to three different functions at once, charting each one in a distinct color and providing a key at the top of the screen. Users can customize the functions they graph to compare and solve their own specific problems. The app supplies a table of values in addition to the graph, showing all the values of each function graphed. The graphing speed is adjustable, and users may play and replay the graphing of their function, or simply tell the app to loop the graphing animation continuously. The unit circle option allows the user to view a smaller unit circle alongside the graph for comparison. Users can view their results more clearly by using the magnifying tool to zoom in. The new iPad version offers extended space here, as well, so the user may view the graph, table of values, and list of functions all at once.
Trigonomics 2.0 is easily customized to the user’s preferences. Such customizability and interactivity are not available in textbooks or most calculators. The visually pleasing, Retina display graphics keep any user engaged and learning, and the new iPad compatibility expands the scope of the application for easier and more comprehensive learning.
“We’re really excited about this major upgrade to Trigonomics,” says Jim Parshall of Very Alien Productions. “The app has been very popular with iPhone/iPod touch users, and so the additional iPad functionality really adds value to Trigonomics. The visuals and operation will appeal to and guide all users.”
