[prMac.com] Chicago, Illinois – The iMums, a children’s tech review site, is giving away two iPad minis to kick off its 2013 Go Mini promotion. The global giveaways, open worldwide, each include a 16GB iPad mini, a Cygnett case and an iTunes gift card, a prize package worth more than $400 USD. To enter, visit The iMums website. The minis will be given away February 24 and March 8, 2013.
The giveaways are part of a Go Mini! promotion The iMums kicked off this year to get technology in the hands of students, parents and teachers who can benefit from educational apps. In 2012, The iMum gave away 14 iPad mini prize packages to families around the world.
“The iPad mini is the perfect size for children to use for reading and learning,” said Alison Hirst of The iMums. “There is a wealth of educational apps in the app store that can turn this device into a one-stop teaching tool.”
The iMums, four moms from four corners of the earth, met online while searching for and reviewing apps for their own children. In 2011, they formed a children’s tech review site to help parents and educators find the best educational apps. The iMums are founder Amanda Powell of Australia, Hirst of the U.S., Grace Shirley Chong of Singapore and Mary Mahon, a United Kingdom native now living in the U.S. Collectively, the group has 11 children ages 1 to 18.
To date, The iMums and partnering educational app developers have given away nearly $6,000 worth of iPad minis, cases and apps.
“Many of our prize winners have been families with special needs children, teachers or speech pathologists. We have given 14 prize packages to families in several countries,” said Hirst, a mom of one. “It is so gratifying to us, four mothers, to reach out to other families with innovative devices and technology that could make a real change in their lives.”
Bamba, an educational app developer and game studio that makes interactive toys for kids, is sponsoring one of the iPad minis to be given away. Cygnett is donating the cases for the giveaways. The iMums
