techBASIC 2.6 Adds WiFi Support for the iPhone and iPad

[] Albuquerque, New Mexico – Byte Works, Inc., today is proud to announce techBASIC 2.6, giving iOS App Developers the ability to write a program to connect networks using WiFi from their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. techBASIC 2.6 supports the TCP/IP, HTTP and FTP protocols. techBASIC 2.6 support for WIFi includes:

* HTTP, giving the developer direct web page access. This includes control over the HTTP request, body, header and value.

* FTP allows files to be transferred. Support parallels the familiar BASIC commands for dealing with the local file system, and includes commands to create directories, delete directories and files, and read and write files.

* TCP/IP is great for general socket access. Like the other protocols, TCP/IP support hooks into the familiar BASIC I/O structure, so once a connection is made, standard BASIC I/O commands can be used to move data back and forth.

“techBASIC 2.4 gave developers the ability to connect to the Internet of Things using Bluetooth low energy. techBASIC 2.6 goes one step further giving developers an easy way to write programs to connect directly to the Internet,” said Mike Westerfield, president of Byte Works.

techBASIC is a technical computing environment with built-in calls making it easy to create apps with interactive graphics, access internal sensors, connect to external devices with Bluetooth low energy and to connect to the Internet via WiFi.

techBASIC is also the only language on iOS to provide developers with powerful computing capabilities like a built-in help system and a step-and-trace debugger. techBASIC apps can be compiled and submitted to the App Store using techBASIC App Builder from Xcode on a Macintosh.
