[prMac.com] Paris, France – Tayasui today released a huge upgrade to its popular Sketches app for iPad, which reached 2 million downloads in its first month of availability and was prominently featured by Apple. Version 2.0 adds the two most highly requested features from users: Layers and Photo Import. Users can now import images directly onto the canvas from the photo library or by taking a shot with the iPad’s built-in camera. Adding multiple layers offers artists a whole new level of freedom and possibilities to test designs and add depth to their illustrations.
The original version of Sketches, released earlier this year, raced into the Top 10 charts of the iTunes App Store all around the world.
“We were overwhelmed by the app’s huge and immediate success,” says Tayasui’s Yann le Coroller, the app’s Creative Director. “Now with the addition of layers, Sketches is not only the most stunning and intuitive drawing app in the App Store, it’s the best drawing app period.”
Much of the app’s success is due to its clever interface, which allows users to draw freely on every pixel of the iPad’s gorgeous screen. Tools can be hidden when not in use, and clever gestures make the app not only swift and responsive, but amazingly fun to use.
“Beautiful tools make beautiful drawings,” quips Yann. “We spent countless hours with professional illustrators to create an app that is vividly real and removes all visual distractions. It actually encourages you to express yourself, even if you are picking up a virtual brush for the very first time.”
Tayasui Sketches is designed for versatility and is suitable for everything from architectural sketches to cartoon illustration and watercolor painting. It functions as an ideal piece of virtual paper to take notes, sketch diagrams and create layered technical drawings. Users can share their works of art via email, Facebook, or Twitter, and can now export layers as transparent image files to use in desktop apps like Photoshop. Drawings can also be shared to the Tayasui website for all to admire.
“Tayasui users have sent us countless drawings and thank-you notes,” explains Le Coroller. “So we had the idea of creating a fun place where everyone, from professionals to amateurs, could share their drawings with the world.”
