[prMac.com] Folsom, California – Huck LLC today is pleased to introduce SympTracker 1.0 for iOS, its free medical app that lets users track and manage outbreaks of cold sores and fever blisters. These lip infections are caused by the herpes simplex virus, and the app lets users record the details of each incident, including locations, symptoms, triggers, and treatments. SympTracker analyzes these incident details to create a Summary, including average severity, duration, and frequency, which tracks the effectiveness of therapeutic treatments and preventive measures. Because symptoms are usually infrequent and heal over time, it can be difficult to isolate their cause and to determine which measures actually help.
* Be proactive by tracking and managing symptoms
* Discover which triggers cause your cold sores and fever blisters
* Track which treatments work best during an outbreak
* Determine those preventive measures that help reduce the occurrence of outbreaks
* Built-in library of preventive measures and online information resources
According to Wikipedia, “Herpes labialis, or orolabial herpes, is an infection of the lip by herpes simplex virus (HSV-1). An outbreak typically causes small blisters or sores on or around the mouth commonly known as cold sores or fever blisters. The sores typically heal within 2-3 weeks, but the herpes virus remains dormant in the facial nerves, following orofacial infection, periodically reactivating (in symptomatic people) to create sores in the same area of the mouth or face at the site of the original infection.
“HSV-1 affected 57.7% of Americans tested in a 1999-2004 study. By age 50, 80%-90% of adults have the virus. More than 50 million adults in the U.S. develop symptomatic episodes every year. Cold sore has a rate of frequency that varies from rare episodes to 12 or more recurrences per year. People with the condition typically experience one to three attacks annually. The frequency and severity of outbreaks generally decreases over time.”
Users begin by filling in an Incident Report, where they can easily enter all the relevant information, including: Title of Incident, Date of First Symptom, Nature and Location of the First Symptom, Severity of Symptom, Trigger(s), Treatment(s), and Results. With each additional Incident recorded in its database, the app can provide increasingly accurate Summary information, which will help the user determine what to avoid, which treatments are best, and the preventive measures, if any, that work. Also in the Summary are: Average Duration, Common First Symptoms, Common Triggers, Average Frequency, and Average Severity.
The app includes a library of preventive measures, and users can track the frequency and start date of each measure they adopt. This information is included in the analysis presented in the Summary.
