Simul80 Use Your Mac As An iPhone And iPad Compatible Bluetooth Joystick

[] Fort Lauderdale, Florida – kode80 LLC today is pleased to announce the release of Simul80 1.2 an update to its iOS joystick emulation app for OSX. In Simul80 1.2 iOS devices can now connect via Bluetooth to the computer running Simul80 enabling full control of existing joystick enabled iOS games. Input is now fully configurable in Simul80 1.2 and any OSX compatible joystick or gamepad may be used.

Simul80 was originally created with the goal of helping iOS developers add joystick support to their games without requiring the hardware for testing. Popular iOS joysticks work as Bluetooth keyboards, sending specific key presses to the iOS device that a game developer interprets as the joystick’s buttons being pressed or released. Simul80 simulates this behavior by generating the appropriate key press events at the OS level.

In Simul80 1.2 any Bluetooth enabled Mac can be turned into a virtual iOS joystick that will work with any of the many existing supported games. Simul80 achieves this by emulating a true Bluetooth keyboard. When Simul80 is running any Bluetooth enabled iOS device will discover it as a Bluetooth keyboard enabling Simul80 to send the appropriate key presses directly to the device, just like a real joystick.

Input in Simul80 1.2 is fully configurable. The Mac’s keyboard and any compatible joystick or gamepad can be used and configured from directly within the app. Simul80 is ideal for both iOS game developers and fans of iOS gaming that wish to use real controllers, does not require jail breaking and is available for free download from the kode80 website today.
