[prMac.com] Washington, District of Columbia – Pterosaur Design is pleased to announce the release of Visual Task Timer 2.0, a major update to its popular countdown timer for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. Visual Task Timer is designed to help public speakers, teachers, students and others track presentation times. It includes a number of features designed specifically with public speakers in mind including a customizable low time warning, an overtime clock, and settings to prevent the device’s lock screen from hiding the clock. The large, high-contrast time display uses subtle color changes to signal time used and is easily visible from a distance.
In the three years since Visual Task Timer was released in the Apple App Store, it has become extremely popular with public speakers and educators as well as parents interested in helping their children manage time on tasks. The app has over 250 positive ratings in the App Store and an overall rating of 4.5 stars.
Version 2.0 of Visual Task Timer includes a fully reimagined user interface designed to look great on the latest model iPhones and iPads featuring rounded corners and narrower bezels. The new release also includes full support for Siri Shortcuts under iOS 12, allowing users to use voice commands to start a new timer, check the timer status, or pause and restart a running countdown.
Powerful automation features including support for Shortcuts and URL schemes allow users to manage the timer using Apple’s new Shortcuts app or other iOS automation tools like Pythonesta, Scriptable, and Launch Center Pro. Finally, a Today widget provides easy access to the timer from a device’s lock screen or Today view.
Visual Task Timer is 100% free and includes no advertising or user tracking. Its continued development is supported through a fully voluntary shareware model. If they choose to do so, users may support the app by buying a small in-app purchase through the Apple App Store.
App creator Erik Heitfield explains the origins of Visual Task Timer as follows. “I’m frequently required to give public speeches or make presentations. I’m also quite nearsighted, which makes it difficult for me to read wall clocks from a distance. As a result, I’ve long sought a simple timer app that I could just set down on a nearby desk or podium to help keep my talks from running too long. No app I could find quite fit the bill. Some are beautiful but difficult to read. Many let my phone’s lock screen blank the display after a few minutes. And as far as I can tell, none provide an option for an audible low-time reminder. I designed Visual Task Timer to meet my own needs, but I’ve since found that it can serve many other useful functions.”
