OpenMeta and better email archiving: DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.4.3

[] Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, – DEVONthink is a long-time supporter of the OpenMeta standard for exchanging tagged files. With version 2.4.3 we have further improved the OpenMeta support with better handling of file system events and, in DEVONthink Pro and up, AppleScript commands for synchronizing tags between the database and files in the filesystem. Users building automated workflows can so make sure that tags are not lost when transferring data between DEVONthink and other applications. In addition, better 64-bit support, higher performance, and higher compatibility to OS X 10.7 and 10.8 make archiving your email correspondence with DEVONthink Pro Office 2.4.3 even faster and more reliable.

The update to DEVONthink Pro 2.4.3 also allows you again to open more than 25 databases simultaneously and improves the compatibility to RSS 2.0 feeds. All editions of DEVONthink display FreeMind mind-maps using Quick Look, come with an enhanced note-taking function in the Sorter, and welcome new users with a completely redone introduction video. Finally, all editions of DEVONthink as well as DEVONnote let you use the left and right arrow keys to expand and collapse multiple items in all lists and outlines, make the apps more compatible to third-party hacks and extensions, and use centimeters instead of inches on metric systems by default.

As always we have improved the overall performance and fixed some bugs, too, especially in DEVONthink’s new scan function, DEVONthink Pro Office email archiver, and on OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.

“The last update for DEVONthink and DEVONnote came with a new first launch assistant that made setting up the application as a first-time user much more relaxed. Now we have added a completely new introduction video as well as quite a number of screencast tutorials. The intro guides you around the most important parts of the app and shows you an exemplary ways in which you could use it, and the screencasts visually explain common tasks in DEVONthink and give useful tips and tricks. All videos are directly available from the app’s Help menu to keep them always in reach without having to search for them on our website”, mentions Eric Bohnisch-Volkmann, President of DEVONtechnologies.
