[prMac.com] Medan, Indonesia – Indie developer Fedry Kemilau today is pleased to announce Lagu 2.1 free for iOS, an update to his music player app that maintains the classic look and functionality of the default Apple Music/iPod, while adding a host of useful features. The app’s feature list includes: Queue Management during playback; Last.fm, Facebook, and Twitter integration; Songs Downloader; Auto-EQ user selectable EQ for different songs; Lyrics Finder; Song Recommendations; Gapless Playback of songs; Auto Artwork Download; Sleep Timer; Shake to Shuffle; and Queue Song Count & Duration.
* Simple to use, full featured music player app for iOS
* Similar in look and functionality to the default Apple Music/iPod app
* Queue Management during playback
* Last.fm, Facebook, and Twitter integration
* Auto-EQ user selectable EQ for different songs
Surpassing standard Playlists, Up Next, and manual song selection is Lagu’s Queue Management during playback feature. Listeners are now free to simply swipe to add songs to the playback queue at any time, even while listening to music. Users can set the next songs to be played without interrupting the song currently playing.
Lagu interfaces perfectly with the Last.fm song recommendation system, users are allowed to scrobble their songs and also love/unlove a song from inside the app. Lagu is able to cache the scrobble when device is offline, and will scrobble the cached songs later when device is connected to internet.
According to Wikipedia, “Using a music recommender system called ‘Audioscrobbler’, Last.fm builds a detailed profile of each user’s musical taste by recording details of the songs the user listens to, either from Internet radio stations, or the user’s computer or many portable music devices. This information is transferred (‘scrobbled’) to Last.fm’s database… via a plugin installed into the user’s music player. The data is then displayed on the user’s profile page and also compiled to create reference pages for individual artists. By April 2011 Last.fm reported more than 50 billion scrobbles.” The service also offers music downloads and social networking.
The app’s Songs Downloader allows users to easily download many free songs from Last.fm, iTunes, and other sources. Downloaded songs are seamlessly integrated into the listener’s library. Lagu offers 22 high-quality EQ settings, including: Acoustic, Bass Booster, Bass Reducer, Classical, Dance, Deep, Electronic, Flat, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Latin, Loudness, Lounge, Piano, Pop, R&B, Rock, Small Speakers, Spoken Word, Treble Booster, Treble Reducer, and Vocal Booster. Having selected any EQ setting for a song, the app automatically remembers that setting each time the song is played.
The app also lets users look up the lyrics to any song via built-in integration of links to a variety of lyric services. Song Recommendations can be quickly accessed via the iTunes Store, the largest online music store in the world. In response to overwhelming user requests, the new version of Lagu includes Gapless Playback, allowing listeners to eliminate gaps between songs.
“I developed Lagu (formerly Music+) because I couldn’t find an iOS app that included a smoothly functioning Queue feature, so I decided to develop my own,” commented Indie developer Fedry Kemilau. “This Queue Management during playback is my favorite feature, and it was inspired by Winamp for Windows.”
