[prMac.com] San Jose, California – iPhoto Library Manager is a tool for iPhoto users to easily divide their photo collection among multiple iPhoto libraries. Instead of being required to keep all their photos in a single library, people can keep libraries anywhere they choose, including on an external or networked drive. This allows for an additional level of photo organization, as well as keeping iPhoto performance from suffering due to an ever growing library. The photos from these libraries can also now be browsed and searched directly from iPhoto Library Manager in version 4.0.
To help further organize photos, iPhoto Library Manager can be used to copy albums, events, and photos from one library to another, all while preserving the photos’ metadata, such as keywords, ratings, faces, places, and more. Multiple libraries can be merged together into one while eliminating duplicates, and the rebuild feature can be used to salvage data from corrupted iPhoto libraries.
The Find Duplicates feature, new in version 4.0, can be used to search for duplicate photos across multiple iPhoto libraries. A powerful rule system can be used to choose one or more photos from each group of duplicates found and perform actions on them, such as moving them to the trash, flagging them in iPhoto, and more. The duplicate photos are shown side by side so they can be browsed and verified before taking any actions on them.
Also new in this update is the ability to preview major operations such as merging or rebuilding a library. This allows the user to see what the resulting iPhoto library will look like before iPhoto Library Manager actually makes any changes to the library itself. The rebuild feature has also been enhanced so it can scavenge photos that are in the library, but which iPhoto may have lost track of due to database corruption or other problems.
iPhoto Library Manager 4.0 requires a Mac with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor or better, running OS X 10.6.8 or later, and iPhoto 8.1.2 or later.
