A few weeks ago Apple announced OS X 10.9 “Mavericks” and here’s our first release of DEVONthink and DEVONnote optimized for the upcoming new version of our favorite operating system. Version 2.6 imports tags set by the Finder of Mavericks, shows label in the new style, and fixes a few compatibility issues with OS X 10.9.
That not being enough this major update for DEVONthink adds automatic updating of indexed folders, and directly imports references from Bookends and notes from Evernote. It also introduces the new document type “formatted note” that supports basic formatting but can also be viewed with any web browser on any system, and supports rendering Markdown.
In addition we have cleaned up many menus of both DEVONthink and DEVONnote up for clarity, made synchronizing DEVONthink databases more reliable, and greatly enhanced the integration with the Open With mechanism of OS X. Finally, this release also improves many other areas of the application and brings important bug fixes.
“Mavericks is a great update for OS X and we want support it from day one by fixing the most pressing issues before Mavericks is even in the hands of the public. And we’ve made DEVONthink easier to use by cleaning up menus and removing rarely used options that were more confusing than helpful. Bloggers will like that they can work with Markdown or our new HML-based formatted notes directly inside the app without much less need for third-party apps. That’s how a shiny summer update looks like,” comments Eric Bohnisch-Volkmann, President of DEVONtechnologies.
