[prMac.com] Hot Springs Village, Arkansas – Apps With Curriculum will celebrate National I Love to Write Day on November 15 by offering free Common Core Standards aligned curriculum writing activities. Apps With Curriculum, founded by National Board Certified Teacher Cyndie Sebourn, encourages book app developers to provide accompanying curriculum with their apps to empower educators in the classroom. Its focus is Common Core Standards aligned curriculum that meets 21st Century Skills, including Project-Based Learning, technology, and cross-curricular subjects.
National I Love to Write Day celebrates its 10th anniversary and was founded by John Riddle; it encourages everyone to spend the day with a writing activity. In support of this, Apps With Curriculum has collected its writing-based curriculum activities for quality apps that educate and has prepared a free report that anyone can download.
The Book App Library, which is a first in the area of curriculum accompanying book apps, features the apps “Smarty Britches: Nouns,” “Treasure Kai and the Lost Gold of Shark Island,” “Treasure Kai and the Seven Cities of Gold,” “Brush of Truth,” “Penelope the Purple Pirate,” “Gerry the Giraffe,” “A Heart Pumping Adventure,” “Battle with the Bugs,” and “The Lucky Escape.” The activities include prompts like writing clue poems inspired by treasure hunts (“Treasure Kai”), creating a fictional character based on a sea creature (“Brush of Truth”), and a narrative writing project that includes writing about the nouns in your life that includes pictures and audio (“Smarty Britches: Nouns).
In addition to teaching Language Arts, these apps teach literacy in science, social studies/geography, music, and art. All writing activities incorporate apps that support writing, and they provide creative lessons for students that supply hours of quality learning.
Sebourn, of Hot Springs Village, AR, is a retired English teacher with more than 20 years in the classroom. She is passionate about empowering educators to be their best in the area of technology in the classroom.
“A book app has so much potential for educating. It can be a one hour source of reading entertainment, or it can provide hours of Edutainment with cross-curricular lessons, technological projects, and cross-curricular areas of study,” Sebourn said.
