Alpine Train 3D 1.1 for iPad/iPhone/iPod touch Available Now

[] Bristol, United Kingdom – Alpine Train 3D 1.1 is a virtual train set for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. It strikes a balance between realistic simulation and pure fun. It provides a beautiful landscape through which to drive the train, but the driving experience is accessible and toy-like. The game has full 3D graphics yet it is lightweight enough to run on an iPhone. There are no points to be scored or specific objectives other than to enjoy driving the train. It is suitable for all ages and abilities.

You are the train driver in a 3D world of railway tracks winding through mountains and caves, set at night-time and in the snow, headlamps lighting the way ahead. The controls are as simple as possible for moving the train and changing tracks. The feel is carefully balanced to evoke driving some weighty machinery, but keeping a sense of pace. There are beautifully lit caves, seals, an orca whale and a yeti. Sound is gentle background music and a variety of feel-enhancing effects such as the clatter of wheels over the track joints and the chuff of steam.

This is a proper 3D game with high-quality graphics, which sets it apart from most other competition in the train genre. There are six switchable camera views, modifiable by drag and pinch zoom gestures. Performance has been tuned to give the smoothest possible motion across the full range of devices. The best experience is on iPad 2 and 3, where the screen size and graphics performance are exploited.

The version 1.1 release responds to user feedback with an expansion of the landscape, more track and another cave. There are no in-app purchases, and future releases will be free to existing customers.
